About Us
WC Swans Hockey

The WC Swans was created in 2019. The reason it was created was to give kids the chance to play throughout the spring and summer to develop their skills and work on their game. We do this by giving opportunities to join skill clinics, practices and camps throughout the season. We also take what we have learned and worked on during the season and play in very highly competitive tournaments in NE, to give players the chance to gain exposure to the college level coaches. While giving the players opportunities to be recruited, we also pride ourselves in walking them through the process every step of the way, until we find the right fit for them to call their home at the next level. This is what you get when you are a Swan.

WHAT PLAYERS SAY

Playing on the Swans felt like a privilege as it was something you had to work for and earn because there were so many girls who were trying out. Coach Ray Monroe brought motivation and energy to his players at all times. His knowledge of the game, commitment to excellence, and the amount of time he puts in for the girls are three qualities that stood out to me. Coach Ray helps girls build their confidence as the Swans face high-level teams. Throughout my time on the Swans, I was able to improve every year. With this improvement, Coach Ray was a huge help when it came to the college recruiting process; he helped me decide what schools may or may not be the right fit and then got me contact with the schools I was interested in. I would not be where I am today if it weren’t for the things I have learned from Coach Ray, both in terms of life and in the sport of hockey.

Playing for Swans was the best decision I could’ve made in my club hockey career. It has been nothing but great! Swans hockey is a fun environment with great people to be around, while being able to compete at a high level. The atmosphere is amazing, making it easy to grow as a player and person. Being a Swan gives me the continued confidence to play at a higher level. The guidance from Coach Ray has played a huge role in my ability to continue to play and be recruited at the college level. I wouldn’t be in the position I am now without his help. Now being able to coach the younger swans players, I hope to continue to instill the same sense of confidence and passion for the game while promoting a fun environment for summer hockey!

Playing for the WC Swans has developed me into the person and athlete I am today. In particular, Coach Ray has been an influential part of my high school and college success as a goaltender. Ray has developed and formulated an environment in which every athlete feels safe, heard, and has the opportunity to succeed. Each team is hand-crafted with girls who lift each other up, work together, and possess a common goal. We all want to get better, work harder, be stronger athletes, and ultimately, win. Ray takes the time to develop relationships with each of his players. In particular, Ray has helped countless girls find their place on NCAA ice hockey teams, while still giving them a place to play and train each summer. Additionally, he employs his older players as coaches and allows them to take the initiative as strong, competent, hard-working leaders of his teams, practices, games, and tournaments. I can’t imagine where I would be right now without the unwavering support of WC Swans Hockey and Head Coach and owner Ray Monroe. Each member of the greater Swans family is lucky to be a part of the community we have all built together under Coach Ray.

Playing for the Swans has been an unforgettable experience for me. As a part of the first-ever Swans team, I have been able to enjoy many years as a part of this program. My time with this team has led to countless friendships, cherished memories, and progress towards my goals. One thing that I have valued the most from being a part of the WC Swans, is the guidance and tools for success given by the coaching staff. Head Coach Ray Monroe and many others have been instrumental in my development and success as a hockey player. Their support has helped me achieve my dreams of playing Division 1 Ice Hockey at the University of Vermont. From day one, Coach Ray has always believed in me and pushed me throughout my journey. From setting high standards, advocating for me, or providing guidance, I know he’s always had my back. This goes for every player within the WC Swans program. Taking the time to get to know each player, having a great team culture, and providing players with the right tools is what the WC Swans pride themselves on. Between the level of competition and positivity on the ice, players can have fun, as well as improve their game. Playing for the WC Swans has given me some of the best moments and memories in my career. Not only that, but also allowed me to grow tremendously as a player and teammate.
